Relief and Rehabilitation

Whenever there is a disaster like flood, drought, cyclone, earthquake etc. anywhere, the monks and volunteers of Ramakrishna Mission rush to the affected areas and start primary relief work immediately for the affected and needy sections of society, which is sometimes followed by rehabilitation work like construction of houses, schools, community centres, water tanks etc.

Community Services During the Novel Coronavirus (COVID – 19) Global Pandemic

In the wake of the lockdown owing to the global pandemic caused by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID – 19), there has been a severe disruption in day to day activities. Keeping its tradition, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Memorial, Vadodara extended its philanthropic services by distributing cooked food, fruits, vegetables and ration kits to thousands of people across South Gujarat in districts of Vadodara, Surat, Narmada, Bharuch, Valsad, etc.

Face masks and Dettol hand bar soaps were distributed to Corona warriors and common masses. Police personnel serving amidst the din of heat and hot wind were served with Real fruit energetic juices.

Altogether, 16,453 persons of 3423 families were served during the months of March, April and May 2020.

Surat Flood Relief Work 2005 & 2006

Extensive relief work was carried out by this Ashrama for the flood affected people of Vadodara and Surat districts when there was heavy rain and floods in 2005 and 2006. Food packets, food grains, utensils, tarpaulin sheets, blankets etc. costing approx. Rs. 50 lakh were distributed.

Gujarat Flood Relief Work 2017

50 hand carts, 1,700 educational kits and 2188 kits of food grains  were distributed among 3,657 flood affected families of 60 villages of Banaskantha and Patan districts of Gujarat during August, 2017.

Flash Flood Relief Work, Vadodara 2019

In August 2019 many areas of Vadodara city and nearby villages were flooded with water, causing widespread disruption of normal life. Vadodara centre conducted primary flood relief work.  Following items were distributed.

  • Cooked khichodi : 2300 flood affected people
  • Food packets : 7884 people.
  • Ration kits : 400 (each kit containing 10 kg flour, 4 kg rice, 1.5 kg dal, 1 kg edible oil, 1 kg salt, 1 kg sugar, 250 grams tea leaves & 200 grams assorted spices)
  • New Sarees : 240 Women.
  • Educational kits : 1000 needy students in 6 schools (each kit containing 1 geometry box, 3 pencils, 3 erasers, 3 sharpeners, 3 scales and 3 notebooks)

Distress Relief Work 2019-20

5500 shirts/t-shirts, 500 trousers and 500 sweaters/jackets/blazers are distributed to students and people belong to rural area in 7 District of Gujarat State.
